The Smell Of The Sun by Twinflower Band

Twinflower Band consists of Linnea, who is the sister from Björn Dixgård from Mando Diao, and Mikael and they come from Borlänge, SW, too (and are actually the fourth band from that town I am listening too ;) ) I have to admit that I had no idea that Björn had a sister quite a long time and I also didn't know that she has a band. I knew a lot about Gustaf's brothers and Sugarplum Fairy, but I never heard anything about Twinflower Band.
I went to the Björn Dixgård Solotour concert in Vienna on the 23rd of November this year. He had promised that there will be some special appearances during the tour. I had hoped for CJ and Gustaf, but one day before the concert I heard that Mats will come and be DJ at the Aftershow Party. I was really glad when I heard that and thought that this will be the special friends act. But during the concert all of a sudden Björn said that he wants to welcome his sister and her band Twinflower Band. I was so stunned and couldn't believe my eyes when they actually entered the stage and started to sing three songs. The next day I looked them up on myspace and added them as friends. They are really really cute and answer all your questions and they are really nice :) I fell in love with their music, though they just have two songs on myspace. "The Smell Of The Sun" is the second one, and acutally it took me some time to fall for that song and I think that today i like it more than "Ride Along".

Twinflower Band at myspace
Who's Gonna Find Me by The Coral

The Coral was everything, but not love at first sight. I was to a "Arctic Monkeys" concert last summer in Vienna (and one in New York ;) ) and they were supported by The Coral. I listened to some of their songs on last.fm and said, "Yeah, pretty cool, but nothing special." I didn't expect a lot from the concert, but I have to admit, that I was dissapointed. They were sooooo boring and couldn't catch the audience's attention at all. I was more amazed that Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys was standing in the background all the time and listened to their concert ;)
Whenever someone asked me anything about The Coral, I kept saying, "Oh my God, they are soooo boring. Don't waste your time on them" And so I didn't think about them anymore and I actually forgot them. When I saw the Arctic Monkeys again in New York I was really relieved when I heard that they weren't supported by them, but by "Voxtrot" (who really amazed me and are one of my favourite bands at the moment ;) ).
In the 128th issue of the ME there was a CD again and when I saw "The Coral" was featured on it, I was not really amazed about that. I just put in the CD player and listened to it. After sometime there was a song and I thought immediatedly, "Hey, that's cool, who is the band?" I was quite surprised when I read "The Coral". This was the time when I started to love them. This one simple song again, "Who's Gonna Find Me". Normally it is the other way around. I see a band live, buy a CD and I am dissapointed. But this time it was just the other way.

The Coral at myspace
No One Would Riot For Less by Bright Eyes

Bright Eyes is my second favourite band, though I just heard the first song by them about 8 months ago: "No One Would Riot For Less". I wasn't completely new into music, but I started to be really obsessed with music. It was the time, when I talked to a Canadian girl on deviantart. I told her about CJ and that he is really goodlooking and she answered to me, "You like CJ? Then you maybe like Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes too. I think they look alike."
This was the first time that I ever heard about this mysterious Conor Oberst who has a band called Bright Eyes, but he is the only member who is always in the band. I looked up a picture of him on the net, and honestly, I couldn't say why they should resemble each other at all. Yeah, he has black hair too. That's it, but apart from that. But I am still very thankful that this girl thought that they look alike, because it was the start of a love. The start of a love for a band.
When I listened to the song "No One Would Riot For Less" for the first time, I was blown away. It was love at first sight/listen and I simply adored Conors voice. I loved his music, his lyrics, his songs, but especially his voice.
And now, 8 months later I have most of his albums, can't stop listening to them and my greatest wish is to see them live. And this just because someone thought that Conor resembles CJ.

Bright Eyes at myspace.com
Music Advent Calender

Well, I know it is already the 7th, but I will start a "music advent calender" today :) everyday one of my favourite songs and a short story about it :)

Our Live Is Not A Movie Or Maybe by Okkervil River

Can you fall in love with a band just when you hear one simple song? A song that is on a CD in a music magazine, together with 9 other songs that just don't fit to it. I never thought that, but yeah, it happened to me.
In the September issue of the "Musikexpress" the new album "The Stages Names" by "Okkervil River" was announced to be the album of the month. I hadn't heard of them before but I just read the first sentence of the critic: "It is just a bad movie, where there is no crying". This sentence just caught my attention and so I decided to listen to that one song. That one song with such a horrible long name. That song, that was on this CD. And I heard the first 5 measures and I fell for them. I simply adored them and all I wanted was this stupid album, but unfortunately I didn't have the money for it so I had to wait.
Then there was this day, when I kind of "lost" 5 concerts including the Babyshambles and Arcade Fire and I had many troubles at university and I had a nervous breakdown. I cried... I cried a lot... and cried and cried until my mum said that I can look for a concert that I want to attend and she gonna pay for it. And I found the perfect concert: Okkervil River on the 19th of November. Of course I bought the album and I fell for the whole album again.
And on the 19th of November, 2007 I was at the Szene in Vienna and I fell for a band, not just because of their amazing music, not at all because of their looks, no, just because they were just soooo cute to their fans :)

Okkervil River at myspace

New Album, New Style!

They are back with a new album: Mando Diao. Well, they were never gone, but they have a new album. "Never Seen The Light Of Day" is so different from all the other albums, but I still love it. I like it that they try to make some experiments. Maybe it is not their best album, but some songs are completely awesome, like "Macadam Cowboy" and "Train On Fire" (those two should be actually one song o.O) and "One Blood". "One Blood" is great :) I love this mix of screaming and the rythms and Gustaf's voice as always :)
I can't wait to see Björn on solo Tour. I will attend the concert on the 23rd in Vienna and maybe also the concert in Fribourg on the 27th :) This just depends if Annika can take the day off ;) I am quite excited, because I don't know, what I can expect. It will be quite different from a normal Mando Diao Concert, I am sure about that. He says, that it will be much more slowly, more like the new album :)
I saw "The Decemberists" on the 27th of September :) They were much more better than I expected it ;) I almost knew all of their songs, though I just have their last album and I was quite lucky, because they had to quit the tour shortly after the concert in Vienna, due to the disease of one of their members.
I also saw the "Arctic Monkeys" again on the Rumsey Playfields in New York :) Their gig in Austria was amazing, but their gig in the States was breathtaking. I couldn't believe, that the guy on the stage was actually Alex Turner, who is famous for being not very extroverted on stage :) The people were great too, of course, but the band was amazing ;)

Arctic Monkeys Aren't Arctic At All

I saw them O.O The amazing Arctic Monkeys O.O Last Wednesday. Everyone said: Hey, they suck live so much, because they don't talk to the fans, but yeah, I don't mind. If I want to see a decent show, I can go to Beyonce or Justin Timberlake. They are famous for their great shows, but their music sucks. I am going to a concert to listen to great music and not to see a spectacular show. And they were great. They played all my favourite songs and the set list was extremly long. Unfortunately they didn't find the time to play "The Bad Thing" which is actually a really cool song, but yeah, I don't mind. They played "Fake Tale for San Francisco" and "Old Yellow Bricks" and so this is everything that I need :) They were sooooooooooo cool and the fans were sooooooooo great too. We shouted for some extra-songs even quarter of an hour after they left the stage and half of the stage was already empty XD They were really, really amazing :) And Alex even helped putting away the stuff of the support band The Coral (who were very boring, honestly). And they were soooo cute and I love them soooo much and they are one of the best bands ever and I can't wait to see them live again :)
Yeah, and now I bought my ticket for the Szene Open Air in Lustenau on the 4th of august. Mando Diao will be there too and actually, I don't like any of the bands that will be there too XD ok, Itchy Poopkidz isn't that bad, but there are a lot of bands that I like better XD But, yeah I will even face a Hip Hop band just to see my guys again XD They are just too amazing.
Well, today I bought the new Sugarplum Fairy CD. I just had some songs, most of them b-sides, on my computer, but no decent album. Well, I felt like buying a album today and so I bought their special edition of "First Round First Minute" with an Live DVD (which is actually in Swedish and I don't understand any word XD but the music is amazing XD I love those guys). The CD is really cool and I just had the time to listen to it for once, but I will do my best to find some time to listen to it more often :)

No Switzerland and no festival -.- I simply can't afford it. Actually, I am a little bit sad about that, because I love Bright Eyes sooooo much. O.O They are my fourth favourite band, but I just can't afford it. Well, we will see maybe I will be able to go to the Frequency festival in august, where there will be many of the bands there too, but just not bright eyes an bloc party o.O but there will be Sugarplum Fairy too, my fifth favourite band. XD Well, now that I keep telling about my favourites band, my order of my favourite bands

1. Mando Diao (always and forever)
2. Arctic Monkeys
3. Lostprophets (I have known them for ages O.O)
4. Bright Eyes
5. Sugarplum Fairy
6. Fall Out Boy
7. The White Stripes
8. Billy Talent
9. The Libertines
10. Baby Shambles

well, at least I think that this would be the correct order o.O tomorrow it may be different again XD

Well, now it is official: I am completely stupid O.O Funk just asked me if I want to go to the St. Gallen Open Air with her. Ok, that seems quite normal, well first thing: St. Gallen is in Switzerland, I am in Austria and just on the other side of Austria so this would be a long journey. Ok, still not that strange. Fact No. 2: It will start on Friday and we would be there on Saturday, well but don't forget that I have an exame on Friday evening, which means: Take the exam and then head for Switzerland XD I have no idea where I would keep my stuff from university, because I am not quite fond of the idea that I have all my stuff in a tent, but yeah, Bright Eyes will come and so I am actually thinking about going. You know, I am soooo short of money and have no idea how I can afford it, but I just love all of those bands that will come: Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Snow Patrol, Beatstakes, Arctic Monkeys and the amazing Bright Eyes O.O Oh my God, I don't know what to do, but I think I will go. Well, I will need a job then o.O so, stop writing that crap look for a job, darling XD

mando diao and my way back home

Well, tomorrow it will be one week ago, that I saw Mando Diao live, but I am still on this kind of cloud somewhere between Nickelsdorf and Wr. Neustadt *lol* I am still not back and always want to get back there. I want to jump into the crowd again and sing with Mando Diao all their beautiful songs. It was just soooo amazing. They are live just sooooo much more better than in the studio and actually, I just love love love their studio albums XD It is a kind of obsession, but I am sooo glad, that I can be happy again, because of a song or something like that.
It just always amazes me that those guys just sing about love, women and broken relationships. Actually, I never realized that, but now I am listening to the lyrics more closely and even try to understand them and all of a sudden: oh my God, they are softies XD but still amazing. I mean even "Amsterdam" is about a woman. Oh my God, I love those guys ;)
